We've affectionately named the above photo, "Puppy Livestock Training Gone Bad". Instead of guarding the stuffed animal horse, the puppies decided to take it down and began fighting over it, chewing on the poor horse.
By the time the puppies were 8 weeks old, one puppy in particular had grown very fond of his livestock 'charge'...cuddling with it when he would take his naps so his new owner asked me to send it with his puppy as he traveled to his new home. I obliged but made a point of forewarning his new family that the horse had literally been through the mill and would be arriving with one 'dead' leg...there was no stuffing left in it at all. I guess you could literally call it a "three legged horse"

Hediye and Warrior are now bred! Their puppies are due the beginning of October!
We are excited to announce our latest breeding plans for this fall between Ancient Warrior and Hediye...blending new Turkish Kangal genetics with a proven dam whose litters produce some of the best livestock guardian Kangals. Hediye comes from a very old and famous line of Kangals in Turkey that date back to the 1800's. These lines are almost extinct but we are proud to continue the tradition of the Turhan Kangal breedings.
Reservations are filled on this litter and a waiting list will be started. We take 6 reservations on our litters and from there wait to see how many pups are born to a litter. Warrior is often seen pacing back and forth...waiting, waiting waiting for Hediye to come into heat...
Hediye however, has her eyes on dinner as it is being brought to her and could care less how long Warrior waits lol
UPDATE! Warrior's patience paid off! Hediye and Warrior are now bred with puppies due the beginning of October!
New Dawn and Ancient Warrior's first litter was a smashing success and we are excited to do a repeat breeding between these two. Dawn and Warrior's genetics are a valued addition to the Kangal gene pool here in the States and will continue to keep the breed strong.
